My First Memory Of Down Syndrome

When I was a child, I didn’t know what Down Syndrome was. But through my church, I was friends with Emma, a girl with Down Syndrome.⁣

Every Sunday, Emma gave warm hugs to everyone in our Sunday school program. Her joyful energy filled the room, lifting the spirits of those around her. She always wore a bright smile and was friends with everyone. ⁣

As a kid, I didn’t know that Emma had Down Syndrome. To me, she was just Emma, the nice girl at church with the best hugs. ⁣

Now, as an adult, I look back on my memories with Emma and smile. I appreciate how she brightened the lives around her by being herself.⁣

This quote reminds me a lot of Emma:

“She’s the kind of queen that knows her crown isn’t on her head but in her soul.”
